My Physical Education Class…

I am dedicated to engaging students in a positive learning environment that ensures each student grows academically, socially, physically and emotionally. My highest priority as a physical education teacher is to create lifelong learners and provide a rigorous learning experience that inspires all learners to achieve extraordinary success.

My Bachelor’s degree and initial certification in Physical Education along with my ongoing education Health Education will enable me to effectively engage all students in a rigorous curriculum. Through my active experience at two Albany City Schools: Arbor Hill Elementary and Pine Hills Elementary, I have gained invaluable knowledge that has strengthened my ability to differentiate and individualize instruction based on individual strengths, interest and needs. Through this experience, I have learned that technology and music are the backbone of contemporary learning. Within lessons I incorporate music, videos, google surveys, and I-movies.

Prior to teaching I held a position as a one to one Teachers Assistant at Voorheesville for a young adolescent with Autism. Throughout the day I was responsible for teaching and implementing life skills, providing redirections and increasing motivation to learn. During this position, I was responsible for collaborating with general education teachers, special education teachers and the special education director. This job has provided me with the skills necessary to begin my future as a physical education teacher.

As a PE teacher & Coach, creating a sense of excitement and fun about sports is something that I am passionate about. I believe that learning and taking part in physical activity, movement concepts and sports is crucial for young children, as it builds a foundation for a healthy lifestyle and positive attitudes. My experiences and dedication will not only ensure student achievement, but also prepare my students to partake in a healthy lifestyle.
