I’m a promoter who educates and advocates healthy lifestyles.
Healthy living is more than simple daily habits it’s a lifestyle. Whether you’re trying to eat a well-balanced diet, find a new fitness routine, or live a happier life these are all tiny step to moving towards a healthier life. As a health teacher it is my job to become a promoter for living a healthy life. I have to teach children the attributes that encourage healthy life styles. I believe a persons well being affects every aspect of a student’s life, including their mental and physical health. Physical fitness and health are crucial, yet often neglected in schools. I want to promote long-term health and wellness by making health class fun by incorporating lessons on the importance of living a healthy life style. I believe if students learn about healthy choices at a young age they will carry it with them through adult hood. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to make decisions regarding their own health, but it my job to inform and motivate student to want to do so. TBIRDS.
Technology: As a teacher I will intergrade technology into my classroom and each lesson. Using technology involves students in the learning process. A student becomes active in the learning process instead of just being a passive listener. In my classroom I will take advantage of technology by using power points, instructional videos, visuals aides, computer based review games, and educational apps.
Best Practices:To ensure success with all students I will make sure they have the scaffolding needed to get them to error less learning. I will model and demonstrate each task before making them do it independently. I will have a democratic classroom where students have an equal say. My classroom will use a combination of pair activities, team projects and independent work. My best practices include teacher expectations that all students will learn. With high expectations, appropriate scaffolding and the ability to motivate you will have a successful classroom.
Inclusion: As a teacher it is my job to help children reach their full potential. I will be sensitive to and familiar with the diverse needs of the students and families within my community. I will use inclusive and developmentally appropriate practices on a daily basis success in my classroom.
Reflection: After each lesson I will ask myself three positive aspects in the lesson, and three negative aspects I can work on. This routine will help me identify what works in my classroom and what doesn’t. By doing this this will help me become an effective teacher. I will also reflect on what students need a little extra help to get them to success.
Dispositions: Dispositions are the values and belief demonstrated through both verbal and non-verbal behaviors as educators interact with students, families, colleagues and communities. As an educator using these behaviors helps support student learning and development. I believe the five main dispositions that make an effective teacher are, empathy, positive view of others, positive view of self, authenticity, and meaningful purpose and vision.
Service learning: Service Learning is an educational method in which students learn and apply academic and social skills to address important community issues. By including service learning in my classroom I will improves students’ ability to apply what they have learned in “the real world”.
